"PATIENT #1" is a sensational movie by Rezo Gigineishvili, which has won prestigious international awards and is not shown in Russia. The film reliably and meticulously immerses the viewer in the era before the collapse of the Soviet Union, at the same time drawing recognizable parallels with today.

The General Secretary lies in the government clinic. He is old and frail, but has a tight grip on power. "The power is only taken, it is never given away," he repeats. This is convenient for both - the elites and the secret services: while the "body" is alive, various groups are scoring political points.
 
The country's top official is "sentenced to life", being cared by the young and fragile nurse Sasha, who bears a heavy burden of responsibility. And at the same time the old man is waging a war in Afghanistan, controls a nuclear button and can drag with him to the grave the entire world…

"PATIENT #1" won prestigious awards, including Werner Herzog Film Award, "White Elephant" in three nominations at once: Best Director (Rezo Gigineishvili), Best Actor (Alexander Filippenko), Best Supporting Actress (Inna Churikova – the celebrated actress's last role) – becoming an international event of the last year.
